when fred perry debuted his classic, white, knitted cotton pique polo at wimbledon 1952 no one could have imagined they were witnessing the birth of a legacy - the eight-time tennis grand slam champion was opening the doors to one of the longest-lasting sporting apparel franchises in history. fred perry has a long history, and we're proud to say the line has had a home at still life for a large part of our 25 years on johnson street in victoria.

spring 2010 sees us reintroduce fred perry's womens collection to the store, with classic pique polos, knit cardigans and newly designed dresses. on the men's side we're seeing fantastic slim fit pique polos, woven collared shirts, a selection of basic tees and an incredible millerain waxed cotton anorak coat that is ideal for the victorian winter/spring months we're in now when a waterproof waxed coat is a must. as with recent seasons, we've brought in the byron chukkah 'boot' in camel suade and navy canvas, a slip on boat shoe and the lowcut coxson canvas.

our second batch of judith fuller's lily & jae spring 2010 has arrived!

after completely selling through the ivory eyelet dawn dress (twice!) from our first shipment, we now have the thelma dress in the same ivory eyelet. our response to jude's designs is always incredible, she's doing such a great job and her colelctions in still life is focussed, varied, and inspiring. the printed skye dress shown to the right on jude's beautiful sister anna is gorgeous, using some of the nicest spring colours we've seen so far this season. come see the latest lily & jae spring pieces before they dissapear.

founded in germany in 2004, george gina & lucy (GGL) is the result of design-minded husband and wife team nicholas neuhaus & nicole bailly, and friend oliver bruno. in just a handful of years the trio has amassed a wide variety of uniquely original luxury handbags while infusing the design world with a healthy dose of humour (see colour varieties including salmon hayek, drew berrymore, orlando bluem, keira whitely & marlon browndo).

loved worldwide, GGL shows an eye for detail and functionality, offering creative features such as zippers, exterior comparments, buckles and their signature chunky GGL clasp. the sheer range of shapes, sizes and colours offered by GGL is impressive, and by producing bags from a combination of materials (vinyl, polyester, cotton & high-quality leather) each bag appears as nearly one of a kind.

this spring we're happy to offer an assortment of these coveted bags for victoria's confident women and young ladies, valuing individuality and uniqueness.

clae spring 2010

spring 2010 marks our second season with clae shoes. the american shoe company, established in 2001, delivers modern classics filling the void between sneakers and shoes. clae captures the lifestyle and momentum of the modern consumer, appealing to men of any generation.

this spring we're seeing shoes with perforated leathers and suades, hemp and canvas and leather trim. the footbeds on clae shoes are always ridiculously comfortable, and once you've slipped into a pair you can feel the ultra strong support that they've built into each shoe.

if the clae aw2009 drop was any indication, these strong, dependable shoes will fly out the door at still life quickly.

a second batch of quiksilver womens has arrived as we move forward into spring 2010 at still life. we're getting a terrific response to the line, using super soft silks, feminine cuts, beautiful construction and almost zero branding. it's always fun when a new brand can arrive at the shop and perform well right off the bat, and this spring collection from quiksilver womens is doing just that.

stella mccartney spring 2010

adidas by stella mccartney is brand new at still life this spring, fusing fashion and sport to give the modern, active woman a well-styled option when exercising. on the collaboration, stella says "i really wanted to introduce style into triathlon. it is something i felt needed a more sympathetic approach for women. i love the idea of encouraging people to ride a bike!"

by pairing with athletic powerhouse adidas, adidas by stella mccartney strikes a balance where the design does not compromise the performance aspect of the pieces. she's created sports clothes for women that don't look like afterthoughts. "these clothes enhance your performance, they look good but they also do a job... there is a real validity to making good-looking sportswear for women. in this day and age, we should not have to compromise style for performance."

a slew of brixton accessories arrived instore this week! we've done extremely well with hats, wallets, and apparel from this socal brand, and this spring 2010 selection is dynamite. inspired by music, culture, and the people who surround them, brixton is the collaboration of three friends conveying their socal lifestyle through this unique line.

the sun is starting to shine and spring 2010 styles are steadily arriving at still life boutique.

today we see the first drop of lily & jae spring 2010 pieces! starting out the season we've brought in some of her beautiful ivory lace and black lace pieces and a few gorgeous grey knit tops. truly beautiful pieces so far, keeping with the monochromatic colour scheme victoria has been offering us weather-wise so far, this first drop of styles is going to go fast.
