with only a few more arrivals to fully stock us for spring 2011, still life is looking fantastic this week with the addition of a small batch of shirting and pants from gothenburg's dunderdon. one of the favourite brands amongst still life staff and regular customers, dunderdon garments are made to wear strong and confidently - these styles hold up. over his years building furniture and creating the interior walnut design of still life, matt wore dunderdon hoodies & pants almost exclusively in his woodshop with little to no signs of wear.

filling in the remaining spaces on the still life racks, we've received two cuts of the same, classic p47 chino in postman blue hickory and compact twill grey along with two cuts of sh40 poplin check shirts for the men and a beautiful, soft lsh45 oxford boyfriend shirt for the ladies.

the overall design concept of velour springs from a classic preppy look with traditional fashion garments redesigned in a new stylish, yet effortless, way. fitting in wonderfully at still life, we've been offering select items from the line since last spring - always with a speedy sell through on the beautiful knitwear & silk tops.

we've just received our first spring 2011 arrivals from velour, which includes the great pastel-coloured casual fit keke knit sweater in a bamboo/cotton mix, the evy-lou silk/cotton blouse with asymmetric shoulder patch detail and raw edges overall, a gorgeous, luxe satin jeneil blouse with front-buttons and patch pocket, and the relaxed silk/cotton beauty shirt with mother of pearl buttons down the front. in addition to the gorgeous collection on the women's side, we've also received the perfect summer chino from velour men with the adan narrow chino in powder blue - ready to be cuffed up and worn on the beach, grass or poolside all summer long.

• LJ21 waxed compact twill parka in dark navy has a very similar silohuette to the LJ65, but with an exposed zipper front, slant side pockets and the same three draw cords in the hood, waist & bottom. we're offering this jacket to our ladies in dark navy in full sizing
• J64 waxed canvas raincoat offers our guys a sleak, dark navy car coat with a covered button placket, slanted side pockets and an internal workman slip pocket lined in a navy & white tiny check. full sizing available on the mens side S-XL

• ladies first - easily our most popular nudie style on the womens side is tight long john. a super tight fit with lower waist, narrow leg opening and zip fly. tight long john arrives for spring in a dry stretch denim for ultimate comfort. this season for the first time we're also offering tight long john in a stunning worn shady denim - a mid blue indigo shade with fine used effects and classic all-over orange nudie threading.
• celebrating its one year anniversary at still life, the phenomenal tube kelly in rinsed strikey denim is back. tube kelly has exactly the same top block as tight long john with a slightly wider leg opening. on tight long john it is 15.5 cm and on tube kelly it is 17 cm, which gives a straight tube leg silhouette. in addition to the classic rinsed strikey denim, we've got full sizing of the washed out tube kelly broken indigo denim as well - a great light wash for spring/summer.
• our number one high waisted jean ever is the nudie hai kai. like the name suggests, high kai has the highest waist in nudie's range of fits. it is a supertight fit with narrow leg opening and zip fly. made in italian power stretch for ultimate comfort hai kai is available in both rinsed strikey (blue) denim and black black denim.

• for the gentlemen of still life - our number one nudie style, and the jean you probably want to start with if you're just getting into premium denim: thin finn dry stretch has returned. thin finn is a tight fit with an extra low yoke and normal waist. the silhouette is similar to the 50’s carrot shape with the tight and narrow leg opening. wear it low. zip fly. in addition to the classic dry stretch denim, we're also offering thin finn in the brand new black coated indigo (!!!). this is a style you have to see in person - a washed & worn coated indigo thin finn recoated a second time with black dye to give an ultra-rich coated denim look with wear marks ready to break in and look stunning.
• back for another season, slim jim is at still life in the organic dry dark denim. the worlwide #1 nudie jean, slim jim is a regular straight fit with normal waist and tube leg. the characteristic double stitches along the outer seam are considered a nudie jeans trademark with a zip fly.
• last but definitely not least, the most popular nudie jean style at still life amongst the widest variety of guys is the average joe in dry dirt organic denim. a timeless classic jean with a straight leg and a regular straight fit. normal waist and button fly.

we've also got a handful of nudie jeans co wallets made in italy and portugal. nudie accessories are all about leather and denim and indigo. saddle leather has similarities to denim, when worn it will be effected by the life you live and sunlight and indigo from back pockets. we have the simple jonte card wallets in black and natural 'saddle' leather, and the wicked pocket-sized hagdahl wallet that measures 10x7,5 cm when folded. it contains one currency pocket and eight pockets for cards, six horizontal and two vertical ones. the outside is made in a 13.25 oz japanese denim with the selvage edge visible at the currency pocket. It is stitched with heavy off-white stitches. the inside is made in genuine saddle leather that will age beautifully.

really excited today to unload a nice new cut of the classic nudie jean thin finn into still life. easily our number one nudie style on the men's side of the shop, the thin finn is a tight fitting nudie with an extra low yoke and normal waist. the silhouette is similar to the 50’s carrot shape with the tight and narrow leg openingand a zip fly. in the past we've offered the thin finn in the classic dry stretch, a washed out clean steel and of course coated black, grey & ultra indigo.

this season we're offering the nudie jeans thin finn organic dry ecru embo: a 10.75oz, 100% organic cotton denim dyed pure indigo with nudie orange threads allover except for the back pocket embo which is ecru (the natural colour of cotton, closer to a white), 98% cotton, 2% lycra, made in italy.

every season, dunderdon designs two collections. the first is their workwear collection, which is sold next to tools and building supplies in some of the best hardware stores in scandanavia. the second is their fashion collection, which is sold in the top boutiques and clothiers around the world including still life boutique.

convention says these shops and customers are poles apart with differing needs and wants. this might be true for many, but not for dunderdon. styles like the P13 cotton/poly workpant, the J25 canvas parka and the S18 cotton hoodie have consistently been bestsellers in both of these worlds.

call it a convergence or overlap. for dunderdon, it’s more simple than that. clothing that fits and wears and works makes sense wherever you are, whoever you are.

here's a preview of the fantastic range of items being offered by our dear friends at nudie jeans co for fall/winter 2010. by the looks of it we'll be seeing some rich, dark, heavy-dyed denim, garments & accessories from the swedish jeans company to take us into the cooler months.

typically at still life we stick to the classic, raw/untreated denim that nudie does so well - but after seeing some of these options back in january in nyc and checking them out again here styled and layed out in a proper collection, the washed out/treated offerings are looking mighty tempting! matt & jordan have been rocking their treated/washed out nudies a heap this summer and the look is dead on.

the velour story started back in 1997 when per andersson rummaged through the store of his grandmother's old ready-to-wear shop. he decided to make use of this asset and opened a shop with friends to sell through the dead stock clothes together with re-makes, art and design. the shop's creative customers inspired the velour team to, in 2002 take the step towards designing their own clothes; and the first velour collection was launched in 2005.

velour is offering a perfect fit and beautiful details, leaving it up to the wearer to create his or her own individual style, offering key pieces or a whole wardrobe.

the overall design concept of velour springs out of a classic preppy look with traditional garments redesigned in a new stylish, yet effortless, way. the style has swedish west coast influences and addresses curious individuals who have an interest in trends but strive for individuality. they appreciate genuineness and are, by velour, offered an alternative to the ordinary fashion brands through everyday icons such as cardigans, check shirts, parkas and trench coats. colours are sober – like marine blue and brown – with colourful accents. these colours together with the prints and patterns are carefully created where every pigment, image and square has its place. all joined together in a perfect fit.
