much to the delight of our close friends & family in victoria, nudie jeans have arrived for fall 2010 at still life boutique! filling out our denim selection for back to school/work/life we've got a handful of styles on both the mens & womens sides of the store from the unisex swedish denim brand.

• on the men's side, we've got full sizing in the average joe in dry dirt organic denim. a timeless classic jean with a straight leg and a regular straight fit. normal waist and button fly.
• we started with the big bengt in dry dirt organic denim this past spring and the style was a runaway success with guys of all sizes. a regular-loose fit with a higher waist and loose hip and waist. the narrow yoke give the back pockets a higher position. the leg is straight with a slim leg opening and a button fly.
• an exciting take on the worlwide #1 nudie jean, the slim jim in organic dry dark denim. it is regular straight with normal waist and tube leg. the characteristic double stitches along the outer seam are considered a nudie jeans trademark with a zip fly.
• still life's number 1 nudie jean on the men's side is the thin finn and we've got it in full sizing in the incredible coated black. thin finn is a tight fit with an extra low yoke and normal waist. the silhouette is similar to the 50’s carrot shape with the tight and narrow leg opening. wear it low. zip fly.

• ladies, we're happy to once again have the high kai in black black denim available for fall. like the name suggests, high kai has the highest waist in nudie's range of fits. it is a supertight fit with narrow leg opening and zip fly. made in italian power stretch for ultimate comfort.
• our most popular nudie style on the womens side (whether in dry stretch or black black denim) is the tight long john. a super tight fit with low waist, narrow leg opening and zip fly. tight long lohn only come in stretch denim for ultimate comfort.
• the spring response to the tube kelly was phenomenal and its back in for fall in strikey rinse denim. tube Kelly has exactly the same top block as tight long john with a slightly wider leg opening. on tight long john it is 15.5 cm and on tube kelly it is 17 cm, which gives a straight tube leg silhouette.

here's a preview of the fantastic range of items being offered by our dear friends at nudie jeans co for fall/winter 2010. by the looks of it we'll be seeing some rich, dark, heavy-dyed denim, garments & accessories from the swedish jeans company to take us into the cooler months.

typically at still life we stick to the classic, raw/untreated denim that nudie does so well - but after seeing some of these options back in january in nyc and checking them out again here styled and layed out in a proper collection, the washed out/treated offerings are looking mighty tempting! matt & jordan have been rocking their treated/washed out nudies a heap this summer and the look is dead on.

this sunshine - seriously! can you believe it!? 18°C in the victoria inner harbour in the middle of may. absolutely perfect!

our post this morning gave any victorians visiting the mainland this beautiful weekend a destination to visit and items to seek out, but what about all you CRD faithful staying in the garden city catching all the sun this weekend? we've got ideas! this weekend will definitely be dominated by visits to the beachfronts and parks in and around the capital region, and a certain swap meet that you will most definitely find mr matt and mr jordan of still life scouring in the early hours of sunday morning.

we wanted to outline some of the essential summer pieces we've got in store right now that will ensure a weekend getaway/hideout in style. for our girls we've got a great batch of bensimon sneakers to dress with your summer dresses or cropped summer jeans. our lily & jae spring collection is looking incredible with some of the new pieces jude delivered last week, and topped off with a cute brixton summer hat her denim dresses are adorable. our still life men have their pick of the litter with the amazing pieces we've got available moving into the warmer months. a full selection of ray-ban sunglasses to keep your eyes hidden behind their dark shades while you're at the beach, and fjällräven backpacks that can fit beachwear, beers, and all your other secret stuffs while you're riding around town on your bike wearing your official new summer shoe from native.

we'll be spinning our favorite new records over the weekend from jonsi (go), broken social scene (forgiveness rock record), lcd soundsystem (this is happening) and sharon jones & the dap kings (i learned the hard way) so come down and say hi if you're staying local this weekend!

we get through a lot of premium denim at still life. in a city like victoria a great pair of jeans will last you all day every day for years and years. our women's denim display is currently overflowing with denim styles for all our girls ready to get into a new pair of jeans for spring 2010.

for us, spending a little more on jeans works when you realize the fit and longevity a pair of premium denim is offering you. thousands of hours go in to designing the fits offered by denim companies like joe's, acne or nudie, and the quality of construction will have you returning for another pair once you realize you've worn a new jean for 2 weeks straight. getting into premium denim on the women's side we're seeing about 2-3% stretch material woven in with all denim to ensure a nice, snug fit on the thights & bum and allowing for give in the jeans without bagging out and looking frumpy after only a couple of wears.

this spring we're seeing the takeover of the denim legging! joe's jeans and genetic denim are both offering denim legging options at still life, with even more stretch fabric woven through to allow for an ultra snug fit to be styled with an oversized boyshirt or cropped up with a pair of flats or gladiators come summer.

it's no secret how much still life loves the folks at nudie jeans co. still hand crafted in traditional italian denim factories, the swedish brand has made it mark world wide with styles available anywhere premium denim can be found.

spring 2010 brings two new nudie fits into still life, as well as the return of a classic. on the men's side we've got a 13.5 oz rigid japanese denim cut of the big bengt. made from the original nudie selvage denim from the day they were born, on this style you'll find a selvage edge coin pocket and silver trims, nudie orange threads allover and orange back pocket embo. on the women's side (but available for both men & women) the tube kelly makes its first appearance in the store - a straight slimfit with a low rise in 11oz power stretch denim from italy.

and then.. there is the nudie jeans co ultra indigo coated thin finn! a modern classic from the swedish denim company, this style has been unavailable for well over a year. from the same family as the standard coated blacks and coated greys, the coated indigo has been a favorite among still life friends and staff and we're thrilled to have it back in the roster.

nudie jeans have definitely crossed the line from the fringe to the mainstream.  from the legs of cynics smoking outside the dive bar hosting your least known next great dj, to the legs of jay-z and josh homme.  they have however, done it well and without offending their loyal, longtime fans.  some early nudie wearers moved on to lesser known brands, but we find them coming back for their favorite nudie fit.  nudie has kept their loyal customers by never abandoning their ethics and not growing too fast.  still made in italy, still made from japanese or italian denim, still dry, still ethical, still at still life.
