Darkness, boldness, tribal elements and outer space - reflected in the juxtapositions of dark leather, fish-scale chain, and glittering raw stones define Biko Jewelry's Autumn 2011 collection available now at Still Life For Her.

Biko is a ‘modern nostalgic’ jewellery brand. Each piece is hand-crafted in Toronto, with love by designer Corrine Anestopoulos. Born in 2004, Biko draws inspiration from memories of the past and translates such ideas into wearable, contemporary silhouettes. Biko marries vintage inspiration with metals, charms and natural stones to create versatile pieces that tell a story. Biko invites its wearer to allow their imagination to run free.

Filling in the jewelry display racks at Still Life For Her this week, Biko has arrived from Toronto to get our girls dressed up and looking good gearing up for the holiday season. A stunning variety of necklace and bracelet styles make ideal gifts for best friends/girlfriends/sisters or yourself. Available now are styles (all pictured to the right) from her sub-collections within the Biko family: Little Instruments, Girl's Club, Boy's Club, Cluster Necklaces, Strange Magic, Bracelets and Pendants. The Erika Lauren Design story began in 2009, when Erika started making jewelry as a creative outlet while studying at University. After graduating Erika went on to work abroad as a Foreign Policy Analyst, for the Green Party of Canada and with TLC on a groundbreaking Land Conservation Project. Along with her deepening commitment to political endeavours, was a growing enthusiasm for designing jewelry. When the opportunity arose for Erika to apprentice with one of her all-time favourite jewelry designers, she jumped at the chance and hasn't looked back since. Erika's unique ensembles reflect her passion for studying the transition of natural beauty to art beauty. Her creative process can be described as an exploration of that moment of free exaltation in nature to themes from the fashion, literary and art world.

Handmade on Vancouver Island, Erika Lauren sees her Autumn/Winter 2011 collection as a refined exploration of the bohemian world. The inspiration for this line came from looking at new ways to manipulate organic forms. The design process was informed by the underlying aim of creating an expose of the unconventional, often over-looked beauty in the world. This can be seen in the way tribal pendants have been given permission to collide with crystals and pearls. Pairing seemingly contrasting elements creates just the right amount of tension, causing these hanging amulets to communicate with each other in a beautiful way. Multiple strands of gold, silver, brass and antique metal are draped together with primitive pendants, seeds, red and black coral, river shell, stones, crystals and pearls for a collection of sophisticated yet imaginative pieces.

born and raised in toronto, corrine anestopoulos is inspired by priceless heirlooms, foreign travel and warm sunny days. as a young girl, corrine designed friendship bracelets, which her friends raided on a daily basis. this sparked a love for creating beautiful treasures and led her to be the designer she is today. corrine graduated in 2005 with a bachelor of design in image arts from ryerson university. her artistry combines attention to detail, assorted materials and symbolic design elements.
