rvca mens & womens fall styles have arrived strong at still life boutique. the california skate/surf/fashion brand always fills out our racks nicely with well-priced, well-designed casual streetwear for our victoria friends & family.

the women's side shapes up with some beautiful muddy blues, browns & merlots balanced against muted greys & mauves. a great break of drapey casual tops as well as cute fit sweaters & tops with collegiate inspiration make going back to school affordable & well-styled. for the men we've continued with a killer selection of the rvca aritst series graphic tees, a great long sleeve polo with woven neck detail, a wool bomber jacket, khaki field jacket and the classic romero jean in both denim and a brown stretch corduroy.

the quiksilver womens (qsw) fall 2010 collection celebrates the renegade soul of a modern vagabond. tomboy button-ups, tuxedo tails, military-inspired outerwear and slick denim leggings are effortlessly combined with softly draped knits, cocooning sweaters, luxe silks, girly vintage bra tops and slouchy knit bottoms. versatile constructions, tough hardware and architectural shapes are layered with raw edges, asymmetry and beautiful imperfections. bold stripes and boyfriend plaids add undeniable coolness, while rich colors pop against the urban noise of black, white and gray.

still life boutique first introduced quiksilver womens to victoria about this time last year with their east-african inspired late summer collection. this autumn the qsw girl continues her world travels sneaking her way through london and paris with the street smarts of a new yorker and the smile of a california girl.

foccussing on the boutique fashion market, qsw marks a logical step for the famed boardwear/apparel giant. for over thirty years quiksilver has maintained their crown as a boardwear company for young men and women surfing around the world - but their consumer has grown up over those same 30 years and now, so has quiksilver. qsw is not as widely available as their sister companies, and its inclusion on our sales floor is no accident. clean and femenine, with an eye for beautiful imperfections, qsw is now available for autumn/winter 2010 at still life boutique.

offering the perfect footwear for the modern young urban man, clae shoes have found a home at still life boutique over the past year and we're happy to have the autumn/winter 2010 selection now available in store.

we always have a tough time when it comes down to placing orders for clae as the entire line is always so good. we end up having to look at what are our obvious, undeniable favorites and regrettably trim the rest from the list. this autumn we're fully stocked in four styles ranging from low to high tops with both suades, nubuck leathers canvas and wools making up our first fall drop:

• with a simple yet elegant design that defies definition with each step, the ellington (in walnut suade & brick) delivers sophistication without pretension. built on a solid yet subtle rubber sole that brings flexibilty and comfort, the ellington is a celebration of both style and substance.
• explore the world around you in the rugged, yet refined character of the khan (in grizzly nubuck leather). robust, pull up bootleather and a versatile, removable ankle strap are ready for anything. built on a modern cupsole construction the khan provides added comfort with a custom footbed and leather lined interior. for work, play, walking, running and everything else you can imagine.
• with its deceptively simple lines and smooth casual styling, the mcqueen (in charcoal grey wool) is the anti-hero shoe. it revisits the classic desert boot, but aids and assists both the great escape and the getaway with its custom footbed and modern rubber sole. crafted in fine wool with unexpected details the mcqueen epitomizes the quintessential cool of the west. put pedal to the metal and speed through a sea of sand.
• like a brother to the ellington, strayhorn (in black) delivers a seemingly basic form with quiet confidence in shape and function. these mid-tops lend an air of charm with a splash of sophistication without missing a beat.

autumn/winter 2010 marks the debut of comune in victoria at still life boutique. we're really excited to fill up an entire display rack with a full offering from the california post-skate/fashion brand. from affordably-priced denim and chinos to clean (though detailed) chambrays, shirts & jackets, comune fits in well at the shop offering a modern fashion look at a killer price point. we're excited to start seeing our men's side fill out as fall fashion continues to arrive at the shop, with more expected throughout this week leading up to the begining of september.

we first introduced adidas by stella mccartney to still life boutique for spring 2010 and were elated to see the response from victorians to the modern fashionable activewear brand. fusing fashion and sport to give the modern, active woman a well-styled option when exercising, the brand fit beautifully in amongst our other fashion options.

we saw the biggest response to the pieces from adidas by stella mccartney's running, gym studio & yoga collections and have moved forward with more of these options for fall 2010. currently in stock we have some amazing 3/4 running tights, incredible comfortemp performance jackets, tanks and tops for yoga or the gym and women's accessories.

we look forward to another strong season with adidas by stella mccartney at still life boutique, with more pieces to arrive in the coming months, so stay tuned and get active.

velvet has arrived with our first serious drop of women's fall 2010 fashion from the creative minds of jenny graham & toni spencer of los angeles.

a long-standing favorite at still life with staff & friends both, velvet offers clean, fashionable basics with an attention to fit, colouring and texture. for fall we're thrilled to see a beautiful variety of colours playing with navys, browns & greys as well as a burnout feather print and gorgeous black shaded lace-backed tank. in addition a trio of cashmere wraps completes this first autumn delivery from the los angeles designed & produced brand.

through the rest of july and all of august we will continue with still life summer hours, staying open until 8pm on wednesdays, thursdays & fridays.

velvet, long known for ultra soft tees and jersey/slub dresses, arrives today with some stunning wraps, tanks and river dip dyed scoop neck tees (think james pearse with more colour & ruching).

39 sixtyone, a difusion line from the graham & spencer signature line offers the same high quality, ultrasoft pieces produced in the same LA-based factories as its sister lines, but at a more affordable pricepoint. the varied selection for summer offers clean, strong colours (tree green, lake blue) and stunning dip dyed tanks & dresses.

graham & spencer, velvet and now 39 sixtyone are some of the most wearable items we carry on the women's side of still life - worn with ease and beauty by girls sixteen to sixty-five years old. come down this week and see what they're offering as the rain evaporates and the sun returns to the garden city.

we get through a lot of premium denim at still life. in a city like victoria a great pair of jeans will last you all day every day for years and years. our women's denim display is currently overflowing with denim styles for all our girls ready to get into a new pair of jeans for spring 2010.

for us, spending a little more on jeans works when you realize the fit and longevity a pair of premium denim is offering you. thousands of hours go in to designing the fits offered by denim companies like joe's, acne or nudie, and the quality of construction will have you returning for another pair once you realize you've worn a new jean for 2 weeks straight. getting into premium denim on the women's side we're seeing about 2-3% stretch material woven in with all denim to ensure a nice, snug fit on the thights & bum and allowing for give in the jeans without bagging out and looking frumpy after only a couple of wears.

this spring we're seeing the takeover of the denim legging! joe's jeans and genetic denim are both offering denim legging options at still life, with even more stretch fabric woven through to allow for an ultra snug fit to be styled with an oversized boyshirt or cropped up with a pair of flats or gladiators come summer.
