The company harkens back to the pre-industrial cottage industries of north america. D.S. & Durga literally craft, bottle, box, and label everything with their four hands. The processes are time consuming and low in yield - both factors that place quality of product far above quantity - a rarity today in the world of fine fragrance. In 2007, d.s. & durga began tincturing flowers, herbs, and spices, to make aftershaves and toners as holiday gifts for their friends in Brooklyn, New York. When they realized that none of their friends shaved, they started blending oils, resins, & plant extracts. The results were handmade perfumes & colognes and their friends loved the results, so they decided to make it official. Within months they were selling to boutiques in New York & California.
D.S. & Durga maintain a strong connection to their surrounding community. They share and collaborate with local artists, designers, and craftmakers - people involved in a movement of carefully crafted artisanal products. Each scent is presented complete with its own story and labeled with a unique batch code by the four hands of D.S. & Durga, appropriate for modern people of discerning taste.

Influenced by the So-Cal lifestyles they inhabit, the fine folks at Brixton have grown their brand from simply headwear & accessories to a full-scale retail fashion range offering cut & sew shirting, bottoms and outerwear to the rest of the world. Our first Autumn 11 delivery of Brixton goods For Him & For Her sold through fast, with knit toques and felt hats keeping our friends' heads warm while the zip-through vests and layering henleys kept them looking good.
This second delivery, the first from Brixton's Holiday/Winter 11 range brings additional Heist Toques and Hooligan Caps into both stores, as well as solid flannels, shirting and henleys for the men and Grace Infinity scarves and Portman felt hats for the ladies. Since revisiting Still Life's relationship with Seattle's truly iconic C.C. Filson Co. this past summer we have been inundated with requests for particular pieces from their wide range of products, and with the arrival of Filson Apparel and Outerwear this week we are proudly fulfilling the wishes of some of Victoria's greatest appreciators of quality goods.
A strong range of luggage, totes, briefcases and rucksacks arrived earlier in October, but today's foray into Filson Apparel is what has a lot of our Still Life For Him men excited. G.H. Bass & Co. has developed, grown and expanded over the years, but its basic policies remain the same. They believe quality leather and thorough workmanship are the foundation of good shoemaking and strive to build the best possible shoe for the purpose for which it will be used. In the 1870's George Henry Bass embarked upon a career in shoemaking with the purchase of shares in a local shoe manufacturer in Wilton, Maine. Shortly thereafter George became the sole owner and changed the name of the company to G.H. Bass & Co.
Years later G.H. Bass & Co. shoes are a New England staple in the Eastern United States, and translate beautifully across the continent to the West Coast of Canada. Priced affordably and constructed beautifully, styles have all ready sold through For Him & For Her this autumn. Waylon is a classic hand sewn BassWeejun (Penny Loafer). Full grain leather uppers are finished a little differently and have less gloss than the traditional Weejun. Leather outsole. Available in Cognac.
Designed exclusively for Bass by New York fashion designer and journalist Rachel Antonoff, The Flavie is a short sport boot with removable strap and buckle. The boot measures approx 3 1/2 inches high. Leather lining and padded leather insole. Leather outsole. Upper is a leather and warm knit material. Available in Navy with Caramel Leather.
Regan is a leather & waxed canvas sport/riding boot. Leather foot with 3 inch heel. Waxed canvas shaft measures a full 15 inches high. Lace allowows for fit adjustment. Available in Natural Brown.

Taking inspiration from a summer spent in “Le Marais” cofounders Catherine Chen and Haley Boyd named their company after Paris’ most eclectic district. From flamboyant transvestites to traditional rabbis, there is just about something for everyone. And that is precisely the philosophy at Marais USA. As the brainchild of two young women determined to fill a gap in the modern market, Marais USA boasts a bevy of covetable basics that won’t leave your wallet empty.
Born and bred in Massachusetts and Colorado, Catherine and Haley moved to New York to attend Parsons School of Design in 2004. During their time in school, they made ends meet as waitresses in various restaurants around the city. Their college years of shoe shopping led them to identify a terrible abyss in the market: Simple, Versatile, Essential styles that don’t break the bank. As a result, the pair began their beloved company, Marais USA, in 2007. They now live and work in Brooklyn where they enjoy English summers and wearing plaid.
Opening our second location late this past August we knew the introduction of a new, versatile, functional and affordable footwear line was essential to filling the space and offering our female customers (new and old) something exciting and different.
