in 1891 tretorn was founded by henry dunker in helsingborg, sweden, setting the stage for one of the most enduring success stories born from the late industrial revolution. dunker's devotion to both business and his "extended family" of employees is legendary. well ahead of his time, he offered his work force free health care and instituted day-care and a kindergarten on-site. not surprisingly, this foundation of good will and good work continues to bear impressive results.

our sell through on tretorn is always exciting and fast. heading into the last weekend before school starts for 2010 we were thrilled to see boxes & boxes of tretorn boots come through the doors at still life this morning. we're offering our girls two styles to head back to school with: the classic skerry vinter in a sassafrass brown (more burgandy than brown) as well as the beautiful and tall skerry reslig in an autumnal olive. still open until 8pm on fridays we'll be open regular store ours throughout the long weekend.

introduced to north america in june 2005, all black shoes have quickly become a favorite here at still life with our girls wanting a fashion forward footwear style with high quality standards in unique fabrication and colourways.

foccussing on low heels, flats and low wedges, the materials favored by all black include traditional kid leather, velvet, suede, silk and satin with feature shoes offered in eel skin, snakeskin and even an incredibly modern use of fish skins and recycled newspaper.

owner designer colin lin has a vision of fashion accessories that far exceed the norm in unique designs and appealing colour pallets. all black shoes have been in stock at still life over the past year and a half and for fall 2010 we've just received our first two styles: an autumnal colourbreak low ballet flat lined with soft leather and finished with a fish scale exterior, and a cute wingtip laced soft leather trainer in a moka/grey. all black shoes are available now at still life in sizes 37 - 41 (including half sizes).

rvca mens & womens fall styles have arrived strong at still life boutique. the california skate/surf/fashion brand always fills out our racks nicely with well-priced, well-designed casual streetwear for our victoria friends & family.

the women's side shapes up with some beautiful muddy blues, browns & merlots balanced against muted greys & mauves. a great break of drapey casual tops as well as cute fit sweaters & tops with collegiate inspiration make going back to school affordable & well-styled. for the men we've continued with a killer selection of the rvca aritst series graphic tees, a great long sleeve polo with woven neck detail, a wool bomber jacket, khaki field jacket and the classic romero jean in both denim and a brown stretch corduroy.

the quiksilver womens (qsw) fall 2010 collection celebrates the renegade soul of a modern vagabond. tomboy button-ups, tuxedo tails, military-inspired outerwear and slick denim leggings are effortlessly combined with softly draped knits, cocooning sweaters, luxe silks, girly vintage bra tops and slouchy knit bottoms. versatile constructions, tough hardware and architectural shapes are layered with raw edges, asymmetry and beautiful imperfections. bold stripes and boyfriend plaids add undeniable coolness, while rich colors pop against the urban noise of black, white and gray.

still life boutique first introduced quiksilver womens to victoria about this time last year with their east-african inspired late summer collection. this autumn the qsw girl continues her world travels sneaking her way through london and paris with the street smarts of a new yorker and the smile of a california girl.

foccussing on the boutique fashion market, qsw marks a logical step for the famed boardwear/apparel giant. for over thirty years quiksilver has maintained their crown as a boardwear company for young men and women surfing around the world - but their consumer has grown up over those same 30 years and now, so has quiksilver. qsw is not as widely available as their sister companies, and its inclusion on our sales floor is no accident. clean and femenine, with an eye for beautiful imperfections, qsw is now available for autumn/winter 2010 at still life boutique.

offering the perfect footwear for the modern young urban man, clae shoes have found a home at still life boutique over the past year and we're happy to have the autumn/winter 2010 selection now available in store.

we always have a tough time when it comes down to placing orders for clae as the entire line is always so good. we end up having to look at what are our obvious, undeniable favorites and regrettably trim the rest from the list. this autumn we're fully stocked in four styles ranging from low to high tops with both suades, nubuck leathers canvas and wools making up our first fall drop:

our second delivery of vancouver's lily & jae arrived at still life boutique this morning. jude feller's autumn collection (all designed & produced in vancouver, bc) is, simply put: stunning.

this second drop for fall is heavy on the woodsy/90s colour palette (burgundy, brown, greens, navy). burgundy & browns make up a super sweet boyfriend blazer, a selection of gorgeous merlot silk camis & shirts, the secret skirt available in a retro beige print and the undeniable british millerain waxed cotton olivia raincoat in a rich caramel colourway.

OH-MY-GOODNESS! we are happy to announce the much-anticipated arrival of native shoes autumn/winter 2010 to still life boutique!

these injection-molded eva shoes were the most talked/tweeted/buzzed about brand in las vegas last week when matt, kim & jordan hit the tradeshows & streets. desired & designed in vancouver our good friend damian has hit the nail on the head by turning classic modern footwear silhouettes into the perfect west coast shoe. spring/summer 2010 was the first season native shoes were available anywhere, and after blowing up online across north america, europe and japan, they weren't available anywhere!

native shoe's motto is keep it lite and that's exactly what they're doing moving forward with their second season. offering new colourways for their instant-classic styles the jefferson, the miller and the corrado, the name of the game with native shoes is colour. autumn/winter 2010 sees native shoes introduce a couple of brand new styles including the much-hyped fitzsimmons street-hiker boot! this thing is sick: impossibly-light eva molded to replicate the classic urban hikers of the 1970's these boots come laced up with a neoprine socky in the boot for total water-wearability.

easy to walk, beachcomb, bike or swim with, native shoes were made for coastal climates like victoria & vancouver, so come down to still life boutique this weekend during the johnson st fest and keep it lite with native shoes for fall.

autumn/winter 2010 marks the debut of comune in victoria at still life boutique. we're really excited to fill up an entire display rack with a full offering from the california post-skate/fashion brand. from affordably-priced denim and chinos to clean (though detailed) chambrays, shirts & jackets, comune fits in well at the shop offering a modern fashion look at a killer price point. we're excited to start seeing our men's side fill out as fall fashion continues to arrive at the shop, with more expected throughout this week leading up to the begining of september.

sophisticated and gentle, the lily + jae autumn/winter 2010 collection tells a story through colour, texture and shape. from silken dresses to cashmere coats, this collection is suffused with warm 90s palette of burgundy, grey, navy, black and brown. fabrics are natural, yet versatile, and rich in both content and texture – from custom printed silk to cheek-soft cashmere. shapes are self-assured: timeless pieces with a hint of trend. dresses and coats are inspired by vintage silhouettes, subtle nods to the fashions of our parents and our own childhoods. boy-shaped shirting benefits from a touch of wool, for warmth. cropped tops and skirts become cozy when layered with long johns or blazers.

lily + jae continues to grow stylistically, without compromising their signature feminine feel with masculine elements. their fall/winter offering is a confident collection with earthy appeal and a complete array of looks.

there are few collections at still life that wear as well on as many girls as vancouver's lily + jae. matt & kim spent the week in vancouver viewing spring 2011 merchandise, and came home with the first big box of autumn/winter 2010 lily + jae for our victoria girls! we've started out strong with a handful of looks working with black & white pairings of of stripes and microprints. silk tops we saw move through the store quick this spring are back with autumnal details and our first fall coat has arrived in the form of the gorgeous olivia hooded rain coat in 100% waterproof, heavy-duty british millerain cotton. we've redressed the windows and are open late still wednesdays, thursdays & fridays until 8pm for you to come down and check out how fall is shaping up in store.
