Still Life For Him & For Her are stocked with new high quality, American-made bags, wallets and belts today with the arrival of Filson's rugged accessories for Autumn 2011. Since 1897 Filson has been meticulously crafted by their artisans in their Seattle factory from the finest vegetable tanned bridle leather.

Over the years, Filson's philosophy has never changed: Make sure it's the absolute bestClinton Filson spent a lot of time talking to his customers and refining his designs to their specifications. So it's not surprising that the items that worked then still work today, over 100 years later. Comfort, protection and durability never go out of style. Filson goods are still made in Seattle - available for autumn adventures at both Still Life For Him & For Her.

Click through the images above for a preview of Filson stock that arrived this afternoon. Heavy duty canvas, wool and leather field bags, canvas & leather rucksacks and briefcase/computer bags, canvas/leather and oil-finished totes, quality leather wallets, and the single best piece of wheeled carry-on luggage we've ever seen. For Him & For Her: Thorocraft Autumn 2011

Thorocraft holds onto a solid and continuous commitment to four basic principles: craftsmanship, quality, durability, and comfort. All materials and fabrications are genuinely manufactured and hand-made in Vietnam and Italy in limited numbers. One of Thorocraft’s most recognized aspect is the stringent enforcement of quality control standards in every shoe manufactured. Thorocraft are thoroughly crafted.

The basic element in producing quality footwear is leather. Thorocraft leathers are of the finest grade available. Every inch of leather that’s chosen to be crafted into footwear is thoroughly inspected for durability and flexibility. After thorough inspection, premium grade leather hides are then hand cut and sorted into sections. They are then inspected once again for quality and consistency before reaching assembly. Being assembled, the leather sections are stamped, formed, and stitched together by hand. The craftsmanship and leather are then inspected against the highest of standards before being sent off to “lasting”. The boot truly begins to take shape at this point. The upper position is formed and shaped over a temporary “last”, which basically is replication of a foot. This allows the attachment of the insole. This, as with all the stages, is done primarily by hand. The attachment of the sole is the final crafting procedure. The term “bottomed” is achieved when our durable, long lasting, soles are permanently attached. As always, the shoe is then inspected for seasonal elements. The pre-finished shoe is then trimmed, cleaned, and treated. Each and every shoe is then hand inspected before being packaged. Thorocraft's final inspection, will double check every stitch to sole, to verify the completed product is of our highest standards of craftsmanship, quality, durability, and comfort.

Thorocraft is a line we ran into back in February and immediately wanted to make work at the new Still Life For Him & For Her locations. Sizing as a unisex, ultra-high quality leather footwear brand, Thorocraft has arrived this week in three styles - two For Him and one For Her.

Last weekend Jordan & Kimmy spent some time with Erin Templeton at her Vancouver studio/storefront, bringing back a beautiful array of Erin's gorgeous, handmade, leather goods to take our ladies into autumn 2011. Still Life introduced Erin's unique leather bags to our Victoria friends last spring, and quickly sold through all of handmade purses, totes, bags and accessories. Moving into autumn 2011 we've pulled a larger variety (in style and colour) from Erin's studio, expanding the collection to include more Kiss & Makeup Bags, Leather Writers, Change Wallets (Medium & Large) and Card Cases. In addition to these accessories we have stunning colour options in Erin's classic TGIF Crossbody Bag, The Hobo Bag and The Tote (Small and Medium).

Born and raised in the mountains outside of Vancouver, British ColumbiaErin Templeton started making leather accessories in 1999, while studying shoemaking at Cordwainer's College in London, England. In 2002, she had the opportunity to rent the boiler room of Vancouver's Modernize Tailors, and then when the tailors relocated in the spring of 2007, the chance to open her own storefront/studio in their historic location came to be.

Erin has kept the traditions of the space alive, continuing to make products locally, by hand. All designs are lovingly made in-house, in either new or recycled leathers. Erin's life-long fascination with vintage informs designs that defy trends and transcend eras. Minimal hardware and simple, strong construction allow people to adjust, change, and make pieces their own. It is her hope that each piece is able to be a life long friend, and able to mix freely with new and vintage pieces.
