For Her: Marais USA Spring 2012
Still Life March 31, 2012, 10:34 amFootwear options are growing week to week at both locations as we roll into Spring 2012 in Victoria - but today we focuss on an American by way of France womenswear range that had a wonderful debut last season at Still Life For Her: Marais USA. Taking inspiration from a summer spent in Le Marais, France cofounders Catherine Chen and Haley Boyd named their company after Paris’ most eclectic district. From flamboyant transvestites to traditional rabbis, they found just about something for everyone in La Marais that summer. This is precisely the philosophy they brought back to America when designing Marais USA: footwear for every girl they know. As the brainchild of two young women determined to fill a gap in the modern market, Marais USA boasts a bevy of covetable basics that won’t leave your wallet empty. Styles currently available from Marais USA at Still Life For Her:
- Ribbon Maryjane in Nude: Go sweet and chic with the refined maryjane. Faux patent leather with contrasting grosgrain trim. Rounded toe and adjustable buckle over instep. Heel height: .5″
- Woven Sandal in Blush: Inject a burst of color and fun to your summer wardrobe. Styled with basket weave detailing at vamp and adjustable buckle over instep. Features faux patent leather and covered heel. Heel height: 1″

Born and bred in Massachusetts and Colorado, Catherine and Haley moved to New York to attend Parsons School of Design in 2004. During their time in school, they made ends meet as waitresses in various restaurants around the city. Their college years of shoe shopping led them to identify a terrible abyss in the market: Simple, Versatile, Essential styles that don’t break the bank. As a result, the pair began their beloved company, Marais USA, in 2007. They now live and work in Brooklyn where they enjoy English summers and wearing plaid.
