The idea that became Native was born out of a vision: to create lightweight, comfortable, and good-looking shoes out of EVA. Fueled by this conviction, two friends from Vancouver embarked upon an uncertain journey.

The pair soon found themselves hotel hopping in foreign lands, hunting down factories with their makeshift shoe design stashed in a backpack. In the fall of 2008, the first prototype emerged from development and the reaction was infectious. The clarity of their vision could now be felt in tangible form, the concept had been proven, and the potential was undeniable. And so, in 2009, Native Shoes was founded.

the native shoes fitzsimmons has arrived at still life boutique in victoria, bc and we couldn't be more excited. this has been easily the most anticipated arrival for fall 2010 with phonecalls daily from across the country with people inquiring about their expected arrival, what colours, what sizes, etc.

here's the info: we just received the fitzsimmons from native shoes in store in the following colourways: academy blue, bottle cap gray, zucchini green & trail brown. they're all sick modern colours from what has become the most modern footwear brand in the game. the fitzsimmons is a throwback 70s street-hiker laceup boot with a neoprene 'socky' insert that can be worn barefoot or with a sock and then simple rinsed out afterwards to keep tidy. wear these things oceanside, lakeside, trailside, puddleside, poolside, barside, patioside or gardenside - THEY'RE AMAZING.

we don't expect them to last very long, though we have additional drops coming soon (and yes, there will be full sizing for our girls coming very very soon, keep checking and keep it lite!)

these injection-molded eva shoes were the most talked/tweeted/buzzed about brand in las vegas last week when matt, kim & jordan hit the tradeshows & streets. desired & designed in vancouver our good friend damian has hit the nail on the head by turning classic modern footwear silhouettes into the perfect west coast shoe. spring/summer 2010 was the first season native shoes were available anywhere, and after blowing up online across north america, europe and japan, they weren't available anywhere!

native shoe's motto is keep it lite and that's exactly what they're doing moving forward with their second season. offering new colourways for their instant-classic styles the jefferson, the miller and the corrado, the name of the game with native shoes is colour. autumn/winter 2010 sees native shoes introduce a couple of brand new styles including the much-hyped fitzsimmons street-hiker boot! this thing is sick: impossibly-light eva molded to replicate the classic urban hikers of the 1970's these boots come laced up with a neoprine socky in the boot for total water-wearability.
