We were so happy to have Toronto's Muttonhead Collective arrive in time to coincide with this past weekend's Still Life For Her store launch! Muttonhead brings sisters Mel and Meg Sinclair together with friend Paige Cowan resulting in a refreshingly new brand with the strength and heart of a classic, quality-focussed heritage line. All garments are designed and manufactured in Toronto - as manufacturing locally allows Muttonhead to fully control quality and to guarantee sweatshop free, fair trade and ethical practices. Each collection incorporates natural and sustainable fibres such as recycled hemp, bamboo, organic cotton, merino wool and tencel and utilizes many recycled details such as leather, denim and velvet.

Branded and marketed as a quality, rugged, unisex brand Muttonhead debuts on the women's side at Still Life For Her today appealing to the strong, adventurous west coast girl who appreciates quality, detail and strong production. Muttonhead supports a lifestyle based on sustainability and responsible consumerism and a return to locally crafted and hand-made. Their movement towards sustainable garments that their consumers can be proud to wear incorporates natural fibres into every garment with the future goal of making the entire brand 100% compostable. Essentially, Muttonhead Collective is manufacturing clothing that adapts to the always-changing, modern environment and lifestyle: it's simple.

A line of clothing we are proud to finally stock at Still Life, Muttonhead Collective Autumn 2011 is a very strong collection from the young Canadian line. With basic merino wool cropped tees, leather-pocketed organic cotton/hemp long sleeves, stretch cotton with recycled leather breeches and the strongest organic cotton/hemp trouser we've ever seen is looking very prepared for a west coast autumn. Also available are a variety of quality accessories including recycled fibre change/card pouches and organic cotton/hemp rucksacks. born and raised in toronto, corrine anestopoulos is inspired by priceless heirlooms, foreign travel and warm sunny days. as a young girl, corrine designed friendship bracelets, which her friends raided on a daily basis. this sparked a love for creating beautiful treasures and led her to be the designer she is today. corrine graduated in 2005 with a bachelor of design in image arts from ryerson university. her artistry combines attention to detail, assorted materials and symbolic design elements.

biko jewelry's creative director and designer, 27 year old corrine anestopoulos, was born and raised in toronto. corrine has always been inspired by art, fashion, people and accessories - she initially began her career in image arts and new media studies at ryerson university and gained her bachelor of arts degree in 2005. her exquisitely designed biko jewellery is all perfected with her very own hands. she relies on her discerning eye and intuition, utilizing different materials, and experimenting with different combinations for each piece. the attention to detail combined with the gorgeous materials used transforms each piece into an instantly recognizable, unique and inimitable work of ready-to-wear art.
