This very special edition Black Quilted Plattan from Urbanears has been reworked with a little something extra. The Quilted Edition Plattan features a padded headband and comfortable ear cushions wrapped in a quilted material, much like the kind you'd find on your favourite jacket, just in time for the cold winter. Urbanears designers have created The Plattan to be the perfect classic headphone, utilizing innovative functions and performance with today’s technology. It is a full size headphone allowing for rich, secluded sound. You can fold it down to the size of your fist for maximum mobility. Plattan also comes with a “zound plug” on the earcap, allowing for a friend to plug in and enjoy your music.

The Black Quilted Plattan is only available in independent boutiques and is not available at any major retailers with only a set amount made available for the Canadian market. A terrific travel headphone, stay-at-home headphone or mobile headphone, this special edition Plattan will fit perfectly under the Christmas Tree of your most beloved audiophile. While supplies last the Black Quilted Plattan is available at both Still Life For Him & For Her.

  • The Bagis from Urbanears is a compact version of the full Urbanears experience. It’s an earplug construction for a direct sound and efficient noise reduction. Urbanears is a collective out of Scandinavia, motivated by a common interest in global relationships and shared involvement in the relevance of the living brand. Urbanears promotes a deeper connection to colour, form and people while providing the freedom to transcend individuality and unify the sound experience through their headphones.

The concept Urbanears is spawned out of a number of ideas. Primarily, there seemed to be no manufacturer of headphones that really shared the belief in what headphones are and how they are typically used. Their shared vision was to add a number of elements to the concept of performance. Beyond the obvious sound rendition they had a vision of making headphones that felt more like clothes than chromed plastics and felt good to wear in a public space. Urbanears design headphones with much respect to what they are expected to be, but with great attention to the details. An Urbanears headphone is always describable as a classic headphone, rather than a bold design statement redefining the product category.

urbanears is a collective out of scandinavia producing some of the best-designed, and colourfully-inspiring headphones we've ever carried at still life. urbanears promotes a deeper connection to color, form and people while providing the freedom to transcend individuality and unify the sound experience. we've just received our first spring 2011 batch of headphones, with incredible new colours available for all of our audiophiles in victoria. styles for spring include:

  • the plattan - designed to be the perfect headphone, utilizing innovative functions and performance with today's technology. it is a full size headphone allowing for rich, secluded sound. you can fold it down to the size of your fist for maximum mobility. the plattan also comes with a 'zound plug' on the earcap, allowing for a friend to easily plug in and enjoy your music.
  • the tanto - constructed for maximum mobility without the compromise of performance, adorned with a sleek and minimalistic look. designed for the full sound experience in a lightweight and portable headphone made for everyday use to be taken along wherever you go, like a good friend.
  • the medis - an unprecedented experience in ergonomics and functionality. the patented earclick solution secures the earpiece at two seperate points rather than one, relieving pressure to a nearly non-existent level while keeping it firmly in place. additionally, the medis rests a small distance from your ear canal and therefore doesn't affect your balance. naturally the medis features a dynamic sound and the sleek and minimal design that is synonymous with urbanears.

color is a major part of urbanears and they modify & tweak them on a regular basis. some colors stay with every collection, while others come and go. all of them are carefully chosen. colours for spring include:

  • black - let’s not get into clichés here, but there’s not much point in denying the importance of black. though by some denied the status of being a colour, its rather absence of light, we wont lie to you: this is the most sold colour we carry.
  • dark grey - it has to be hard being a colour like dark grey in the family of urbanears. a little like the middle kid who gets the least attention, but has to learn to stand on his own. however, the dark grey has been with us from collection one as it is strikingly handsome, and fits all occasions. there's simply no replacing it.
  • pistachio - the name pistachio took a bit to agree on. in the old cmyk scale the recipe comes down to almost equal parts cyan and yellow. the name we’ve obviously borrowed from the tree most commonly known for its culinary nut. unlike its namesake this color causes no allergic reactions and is never hard to peal – it’s just a beautiful color you wont find on any other headphone.
  • white - you know how your mother almost denied you to buy those white sneakers or that jacket as it “would get dirty”. well its time to grow up now and do what you know you want to. get yourself some crisp white headphones.
  • redred is a color made up of some of the longest wavelengths the eye can discern. it is also the color your tv set has the hardest time giving an accurate rendition of. other than that you wont find a primary with such an abundance of myths surrounding it. from its angering effect on bulls to its profound connection to all strong emotions, be it sin, passion, love or hatred.
  • tomato - the tomato is simply red. it's based on the classic pantone color 032, known to be the default red shade of the world. the original red had a touch of blue in it, making it a little tweaked. but the tomato is simply red.
  • orange - urbanears said they would never do an orange, but they did. they received a lot of request for it along the way and caved in, neglecting their initial principals. and once they did they couldn’t remember why they said they wouldn’t. it looks great. it’s not the super fluorescent kind but rather close to a classic red. we would call it classic orange.
  • navy - while marine warfare thankfully seems to have gone out of style the classic dark blue will be around until the end of humanity. this one has been with us from the start. it’s at the lighter side of the classic navy but has that grown up quality some colors can have without ever being the headphone equivalent of a suit.

urbanears is devoted to headphones. and they will continue to be so as long as they exist. they hope to create long-lived designs that can stay around for decades in an endless number of nuances - forever expanding and improving their product range. urbanears are currently available at still life.

as we found this summer, urbanears offered all of us at still life a well-styled, clean, crisp, easy-listening option for headphones while: at the computer, walking the street, chilling by the pool and travelling through airports/airplanes. we've got a fuller selection of the scandinavian-designed headphone this autumn with two styles: the lightweight tanto in red and black, and the vintage-inspired, classic plattan in red, black, army green, yellow and true white.

urbanears is a collective out of scandinavia, motivated by a common interest in global relationships and shared involvement in the relevance of the living brand. urbanears promotes a deeper connection to color, form and people while providing the freedom to transcend individuality and unify the sound experience.

urbanears was created by a number of individuals with very different traits gathered around a belief in the concept. the crew is made up out of entrepreneurs, industrial and graphic designers, tech nerds, former retailers, salesmen and business men - most of which can be described with more than one of these traits. they come from backgrounds in fashion, electronics and design based in stockholm, sweden.
